Why Black Water exists

In Ukraine, our founder worked alongside drone operators and the teams 3D-printing parts for them in the field. He listened to what worked, what failed, and how they adapted faster than anyone could plan for.

One problem came up again and again. Each mission ran on a different platform with its own separate AI tool, and crews were stitching them together under pressure. It worked because the crews were exceptional, but it cost them time they did not have.

He saw the same gap facing the teams at home: the search and rescue teams, firefighters, paramedics and police who walk into danger so others can walk out. Black Water was founded in 2026 to close it.

METHOD

The thinking behind Black Water

Dr Di Franco is the creator of A.E.M.T.™ (AI-Enhanced Modular Thinking), a design philosophy developed over two decades of giga-project delivery and the focus of his Doctor of Design (DDes) research. Its starting point is Christopher Alexander's approach to structured design thinking. A.E.M.T.™ extends it with AI and proven modern technologies, treating modularity as a way of thinking and AI as a collaborator rather than a calculator.

That philosophy shapes how Black Water builds: one operations leader, many modular units, one mission.

N.O.L.A.N.™ is Patent Pending (U.S. Appl. No. 19/851,696). The company was founded in 2026 by Dr Robert J. Di Franco, DDes, and is headquartered in Jackson, Mississippi.
